I have a question about performing gPPI analysis using the CONN toolbox. 

Assume that my experiment contains two conditions: Condition A & Condition B. There are also multiple intervals of passively viewing a fixation (rest), which is modelled as an implicit baseline in SPM. 

Now I'd like to run a gPPI comparing Condition A against the implicit baseline (rest). Now I have 2 questions:

(1) When setting up gPPI, do I need to explicitly set the resting periods as as one condition 'Rest' and provide its onset times and durations. Or, is it OK to only include Condition A & B and leave out the resting periods?

(2) The 2nd question concerns the interpretation of gPPI. I'm wondering whether the PPI regressor of Condition A, for example, should be interpreted as (i) 'voxels more connected with the seed during Condition A relative to the implicit rest baseline' or (ii) 'voxels more connected with the seed during Condition A relative to everything esle (including Condition B & rest)?
